Stillness
1.
Perpetuating stillness that perpetuates
Even when its evidences dissipate
An undercurrent of stillness
That dismantles movement
Stillness that proceeds forward
Toward unity or universal peace
Or some other idea that
Is hung like a carrot
In front of the mouth
Of mankind; we reach
To gladly have our arms
Cut off, and dismantled
Prodding existence with questions,
Looking for reason or worth,
Finding it in lack, finding
Ourselves in lack, with stillness
2.
Undulating stillness, acceptance
Gratitude, wonder, memories
Of the different ways
That clouds can be
And trying to remember
Their names, and sud-
Denly not caring, as
The sight is enough
Stillness like the clouds
Move, but slower, and with
More grace, perpetuating
Like stillness
3.
Solid and stable,
But not rigid or immovable
Stillness like a wooden box frame
Made of 4x4s and carpentry
That will lilt like a decrepit
Curtain in an old western
Movie about the dust bowl
That is blowing in the wind
In order to depict poverty
Solid stillness built like a
Tetris, but never needing
To press the button to
Make the lines disappear
Stable stillness
Like a family business
That started
More than a century ago
Solid and stable stillness
